Jan (John) Linker

March 20, 1934 - October 26, 2023

Peacefully on October 26, 2023, John Linker in his 90th year, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour.

John was predeceased by his wife Helen (2022), who he missed every day. He was the devoted father to his 4 boys and their wives, Andrew and Michelle, Brian and Corinne, Carl and Lindsay, Douglas and Sophie. He was a special grandpa to 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren with another on the way.

John was born at home in Een, The Netherlands on March 20, 1934 to Trynco and Jantje Linker, the middle of 9 children. He immigrated to Canada with his family as a teenager and made his home in Strathroy, settling at his hobby farm, Tiny Acres. He worked various jobs as a carpenter and finished his working career as the custodian of Bethel Baptist Church. During his retirement years he enjoyed working in his shop, watching and photographing the wildlife around his property and visiting with family and friends.

John will be missed by his sisters, Jean DeRuiter and Joanne Abma and her husband Tom and his sister in laws Patsy Linker and Anne Linker. He will also be missed by Helen’s sisters Jean Kellestine and her husband Walter and Ruby Hathaway as well as many nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on October 30, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm.  The funeral service will be held at Bethel Baptist church (264 Princess St, Strathroy) on October 31, 2023 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Cuba Outreach Ministry of which John was a founding member.
