Obituary of Jerry Boersma

After a life well lived, the Lord took home Jerry Boersma, on January 10, 2024, at the age of 90. 

Beloved husband of Louise for over 66 cherished years. Loving father of Richard Boersma (Jane Thuss), Jerry Edward (Bernadette) Boersma, Deborah Boersma (Carl Kotevich), Perry Boersma, Monica (Ray) Purdon.

Proud and loving gramps to Christine (Jason) Hurd, April (Paul) Vafiades, Rachel (Ryan) Vanderheyden, Jason Boersma (Sara Warboys), Richard (Heather) Boersma, Melissa Boersma, Nathan (Andrea) Boersma, Marshall (Star) Boersma, Andrea Boersma (Phil Wybo) and Paul Boersma. Great (and great-great) gramps to 23 amazing great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

Dear brother and brother-in-law of Henk & Hennie Boersma, Irene Drenth, Ralph Boersma, Nancy Linker, Pete & Minnie Boersma, Gertie Bruins. Margaret Van der Eyk, Tina Schalk, Jean Roszell, Ellen Feddema, Lukie and Art DeWaard, John and Jenny Feddema, Ytte Feddema, Henny Feddema, Gerry Feddema, Pat Feddema and Rose Feddema. Jerry is survived by many nieces and nephews.  

Predeceased by son Larry, and siblings/in-laws Pieter Feddema, Anna and Ted Rintjema, Ernie Feddema, Bob Feddema, Peter Feddema, Fred and Edna Nordemann, Alma and Ray Heeringa, John Van der Eyk, Tom Schalk, Tom Feddema, Jack Roszell, John Boersma, Bert Drenth, Tina Boersma and Charlie Feddema. 

Jerry will be fondly remembered as an avid gardener, always taking pride in his beautiful gardens. He always collected seeds wherever he travelled. Jerry’s love of horses, traveling and his grandkids will be remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will take place on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 11:00a.m. at Strathroy East Christian Reformed Church. Interment to follow at Strathroy Cemetery.
