Ik weet het niet, ik zal het nooit begrijpen waarom een mensenleven wordt bekort. Waarom de ene bloem tot vrucht mag rijpen, de andere reeds in de knop verdort. Ik zie niet in waarom jouw kind moest sterven terwijl een oude zieke stumperd leeft. Al je illusies liggen nu aan scherven; soms weet men niet waarom men ze nog heeft. "Je moet berusten", zeggen je verwanten, maar ik denk niet dat God dit van je vraagt. Berusten is een geest lijk lanterfanten waardoor je vruchteloos het lijden draagt. Je krijgt pas rust wanneer je hebt gestreden. Vecht met je God, zoals een Jacob deed. Bestorm Hem met je tranen en gebeden, houd Hem maar aan Zijn Woord in al je leed. Eens zullen wij misschien dit gaan begrijpen: waarom een kinderleven wordt bekort, waarom een knop soms snel tot vrucht mag rijpen zodat hij nooit verwelkt meer, noch verdort.
Dear Tom and Marcie and Family: My mother once gave me this poem, after losing her daughter. She said it never translated well into english so I wrote it out for you. Why I do not know or understand how a human life is cut short before the flower can mature. The other already in bloom. I do not know why your child had to die when the old and sick live on. All your illusions lights are shining. Sometimes we do not know why. Rely on your friends and family , rest from your suffering . Like in the garden fight with God like Jacob did for your fruitless suffering. You only get rest. You will not get her back when you fight. Fight with your God like Jacob did. Storm Him with your tears and prayers to his word in all your suffering. Hold Him to His word in all your sorrow. Once we may someday understand this when a child's life is shortened some fruit He will never wilt no more. Tom and Marcie, bring your struggles to the Lord.
